President's Message
We appreciate your visiting the Web site of the Soil Conservation Council of Canada. It will be clear from the information on this site that our sole focus is soil conservation. Soil is a precious resource and it is our goal to help ensure that productive soil is maintained for future generations.
A major focus of our efforts is with agricultural producers across Canada and the people who work directly with these producers. However, increasingly today, interest in soil improvement comes from many sectors, partly because of an interest in sustainability, partly from a renewed interest in food production, and partly because of the rising interest in the environment.
We welcome that interest in productive soil, whatever the reason. We believe everyone can play a role in the stewardship of this vital resource. For those just learning about soil conservation and those who are already passionate advocates of the soil, this Web site can serve as a valuable jumping-off point to greater knowledge.
