Long the forgotten child of the environmental movement, there is growing evidence that soils are becoming of greater interest to the general public and the farmers and ranchers who manage them, says the Soil Conservation Council of Canada (SCCC).

Quebec 'soil champion' recognized for soil conservation leadership
A Quebec producer has been honoured for his leadership in driving sustainable soil conservation practices in Canada. Jocelyn Michon of La Présentation, Quebec is the newest inductee into the Canadian Conservation Hall of Fame, an award which recognizes deserving Canadians for their outstanding contribution to soil conservation.

The Soil Conservation Council of Canada (SCCC) has a new president. Ontario farmer Don McCabe assumed the position in late March with the organization, which serves as the face and voice of soil conservation in Canada.

Soil Conservation Council of Canada appoints new executive director
The Soil Conservation Council of Canada (SCCC) has appointed a new executive director. Glen Shaw of Moose Jaw, Sask. took the position at the beginning of January 2009 with SCCC, which has served as the face and voice of soil conservation in Canada since 1987.
