Contest Official Rules and Regulations
The Soil Conservation Council of Canada's (SCCC) 2016 Healthy Agricultural Landscapes Photo Contest is open to all residents of Canada, who have reached the age of majority in their province of residence.
SCCC members and board members are eligible to enter the contest, however, contest judges and their immediate family members (spouse, parent, child, siblings) are prohibited from entering.
There are four categories in which one winner will be selected. Those categories are Soil, Water, Air and Biodiversity. One winner for each category will be selected.
The four winning photos will be announced in the fall of 2016. The photographers of all three selected images will also receive free SCCC memberships for 2017 and a $100 gift card.
The contest begins on Monday, April 4, 2016 at 8:00 a.m. Central Standard Time (CST) and closes on Monday, October 31, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. Central Standard Time (CST). Any late submissions will be void. SCCC takes no responsibility for lost, corrupt, or late entries.
All photos submitted must have been taken within Canada and taken within the last five years to qualify in the contest.
All submissions must be made through the online entry form and all required documentation must be included. Any submissions that do not adhere to the rules and regulations of this contest will automatically be forfeited. Printed photographs and poor-quality scans will not be accepted.
You may enter as many times as you like.
SCCC reserves the right to modify or cancel the contest at its discretion. The contest is void where prohibited or restricted by law.
Winners will be notified by email after contest closing date and receive their membership/prize shortly thereafter.
Only photographs submitted as high-quality JPG or TIF files under 10 MB will be accepted. All other formats will be void.
Photos must not be altered in any manner and only original files will be accepted. Multiple photos may not be combined into a single image. Treatments such as additions of framing, text or decorative edges may not be included. Watermarks are not accepted. Cropping of photographs and colour-correction may be permitted.
Accurate description of photograph origin, location, etc. must be included.
Submissions must be tasteful in nature and any images deemed inappropriate will be disqualified at the sole discretion of the organization. Images may not include any obscene, provocative, defamatory, sexually explicit, or otherwise objectionable or inappropriate content.
In the case a photograph includes people that are recognizable, a model release is required to be submitted. Photos submitted without a signed model release will not be eligible for the contest. Model releases are the responsibility of the photographer and must be emailed to at time of contest entry. Please include your name and the title of your photo in the email.

Submissions must be original work and may only be entered by the original legal owner of the photographs. No secondary party submissions allowed.
Photos may not have previously had rights-transferred to another party or have any restrictions on usage. Failure to notify of any restrictions will automatically result in disqualification of all entries by that owner.
Photographers will retain copyright of all submitted materials.
Photographers will grant SCCC permission to unlimited usage of photographs and provide royalty-free, non-exclusive rights and license to the images in perpetuity and without compensation.
SCCC is free to use all submitted images in promotional materials as seen fit to promote its mission via print, electronic formats, web and social media. SCCC shall also have the right to submit images to partnering companies when relevant to SCCC's mission. These rules apply to all submissions.
Proper photo credit of photographer's name will be used on all images selected for print and electronic materials, when format allows and as applicable. Photographer should provide photo credit as they wish it to be displayed.
Photo Selection Criteria
All photos must demonstrate a clear relationship to the health of Canada's Agricultural Landscapes. Soil, air, water and biodiversity are the specific components of the landscape that will be used in judging the entries. Photos should show agricultural management practices that are making positive contributions to one or more of those elements. Each entry must be an excellent photo with good composition, clarity, focus, and originality.
Both black and white and full-colour submissions will be considered.
